"Final Paper
I enrolled in this course toward the end of the school year, knowing that I needed two more credits to meet Alaska's requirements to recertify as a teacher. I was pleasantly surprised by the material covered in the class. The two…"
"I really enjoyed the exercise of identifying famous quote from famous people. We did our best to figure out who said what. I got a little better than half . The second part was to listen to the actual sound bite for the quote. It was interesting…"
"So now we start talking about the Baby Boomer generation and their contribution to humanity. Harry Truman was inaugurated , Cuban missile crisis 64' , One Nation Under God was added to the Pledge of Allegiance , Star Trek, JFK assassination and…"
"I enjoyed the exercise of matching the Indian Chief with the tribes, dates, and facts. Moving forward to the Roaring 20s, it was an interesting period of time where we found out the real meaning of a Speak Easy was to get the patrons to speak…"
"I enjoyed starting right off the morning with "Jump Jim Joe" dance as well as the "Lucky Seven." These were two very doable dances that I could teach in the right setting. Like Stephanie, I was surprised to discover that Hitler was born at about…"
"This article by Robert Woody, Music as an Elixer for Your Brain, is long over due. While I believe almost everything we do makes us smarter, music certainly does not have the corner of the market. Many music teachers refer to the Mozart affect in an…"

"Bobby Horton's two versions of "Battle Cry of Freedom" was interesting in that the Union version was more upbeat and triumphal, while the Confederate version was more somber with a slower tempo. I was not aware of the origin of the Cake Walk. …"
"I was very interested in the fact that the Baroque era overlapped with the Colonial/Revolutionary period in America. As the colonies were founded, European composers like Handel, Purcell, and Telemann were very busy composing. The Jefferson and…"
"I liked the teaching of dance, particularly the Minuet, even though it was hard to dance to. I generally teach at least a couple of pieces from the Baroque era, and it will help my band students get the feel for the 3/4 time. I didn't realize that…"
"I enjoyed the exercise of reading the different magazines. It was eye opening to see how materialistic our culture can be. Also, how biased we are with just using white, beautiful people with nice teeth for models, and how unrealistic it is as a…"
How is everything with you, I picked interest on you after going through your short profile and deemed it necessary to write you immediately. I have something very vital to disclose to you,but I found it difficult to express myself here, since it's a public site.Could you please get back to me on ( pollardjames95@gmail.com ) for the full details.Have a nice day Thanks God bless.
So glad we could "bring history to life" for you through the senses! Thank you also for being my minuet partner =)
Your contributions to our class discussions were insightful and much appreciated! The overlap of the Colonial and Baroque eras was a great point. Also your wonders about the colonial money exchanges between the various colonies is terrific food for thought.
I hope the dances are fun for your students, especially on those post-concert days! Your connections between band composers and the eras in which they lived will be great for your band students as well. I look forward to borrowing several of your Brass Band Civil War era resources from your ARS. Thank you for a thoughtful collection!!
I hope you have a wonderful summer! Happy retirement to Mrs. Cleveland! =)
