I too tried to read chapter 2. I tend to agree with the first poster. It doesn't appear to be anything that is really new. The most interesting thing for me was trying to figure out how I will use this in my lessons for my class. I am going to be new at the fifth grade level, so it should be very interesting.
During the class discussions, I did learn that I have a lot of material I need to read to fully understand what to teach. That was what I think is the most important thing I learned during the class discussions.
